A GLOBAL MOVEMENT
Run Against, an International Fund Raising event held in schools that helps save lives of thousands of children suffering from acute malnutrition. It is being held globally for the past 17 years and has witnessed the participation of more than 273, 000 children and 1,233 schools from all over the world and is a fun event where children participate with their classmates and learn the importance of good nutrition.
TOWARDS SAVING LIVES
The event is a two-step process
Presentation: We engage the students by conducting a sensitization session/ presentation which focuses on prevention of malnutrition and show them an interesting video on Action Against Hunger’s nutrition programs in India, the importance of good nutrition,
do’s and don’ts about food habits and sanitation.
Run: The students then go to the Sports Ground / school foyer area aiming to complete as many laps of the track as possible and asking family and friends to sponsor their run per lap. The run event is very simple and takes less as 20 minutes per class. The round track is about 50 to 70 meters. This helps the non-profit raise vital fund by involving the children.
RAISING VITAL FUNDS
The sensitizations involves a 20 minute audio visual presentation accompanied by a short junk food monster act for primary kids (junk food monster up to grade 6 and only the presentation for higher grades) and is conducted in the school auditorium in multiple sessions depending on the capacity. The run is conducted in the school foyer / compound / attached ground.
CHILDREN ARE THE REAL CHAMPIONS
Children being our future citizens, get sensitized on an important social issue facing our country. They get to witness different facets of life in other parts of our country thus leading to holistic all round development. Parents, children and teachers come together as one to participate reflecting the spirit of camaraderie and helping the less privileged while the school as a whole experiences social responsibility and giving.
